They don't make 'em like they used to

It's a common saying, but humans have lost the need to do things magnificinty.....if you look at the last 2000 years most of the awe inspiring monuments are from a distant past.....the colluseum........the mayan temples.....the great wall of china were all built without modern technoligy and yet they surpass alot of our modern constructions........of course we still have our space travel and medicines and communications but our landmarks are quite simply boring....gone is the pride and patience of the great masters.......ancient sculptors and architects spent years forging and dedicating their existince to their wares, some of their work had to be carried out by there succesors for the mere fact so much time was needed to do things right.
The designs of modern architecture has delved into the ridiculous, with not beauty being the forefront but blandness and commoness taking over..........gone are the days when you could look at a design or building and be in awe......like fasion, the world has ventured into a realm of not what is beautiful but what conforms to the current trend.
You only have to look at the new batch of super models and feel a sense of monotony.....they all appear unwell, faces boney and lifeless, gone are the curves and sexiness, in with the waifs and eating disorders..........but thats the trend.
Paintings, sculptures, music has all been perfected by past cultures, we as individuals want to be different and brake new ground, so we have taken what is perfect and complete and changed it, not because it looks good or it sounds good.....but merely so it "appears" we have done something different......
Modern Art gallerys for example contain ridiculous peices of items being passed off as art, not because someone had skill or a keen sense of style, but because those rooms needed to be filled so as the next paying costomer has something to look at. A black canvas with a yellow dot in the centre, thats not art....a canvas with four green circles and a blue triange in the top right hand side is pondered by the art folk for hours, not because it's a master peice but because it has a hook on the back of it attached to a wall. It seems the sillier and blander a peice is the more someone is willing to pay for it. Hopefully this trend does not continue and the real artists, sculptors and the like forge their way back int the mainsteam...........
