The Problem with Managers
Working in a large company has its ups and downs, the largest problem with hierachy in a large company is the passing of the buck to the employees, who work the hardest , get paid the least and seem to get the least amount of apreciation possible. In such an outfit it can become rediculous how the uper management abuse their privledges and just don't seem to "get" the idea of teamwork. This is how the system works
*The "area" manager comes in and does a lap of the store, pointing out all the jobs that need to be done, writes a list of said jobs and passes it on to the landscape manager.
*The landscape manager then rerights the list { yes - actually sits down and copys nearly word for word of the areas managers list} who then in turn passes "his" list down to the staff.
*The staff spend an hour or two going through morning routines and maintenance, then move onto the areas managers list.
*The landscape manager then writes down what he's supposed to complete during the day, but instead of actually doing his list,he passes his jobs down to the staff.
*The landscape manager then sits in the office for hours on end apparently ordering products for the yard and costomer orders but for some reason every second phone call is from an irate costomer wanting to know why their order is taking so long to come in.
*Then instead of handling the irate costomer, The landscape manager tells the staff that he "hasn't ordered it yet because......so tell the costomer it will be another week before it arrives"
A classic example of laziness is the constant amount of times a "job" to do is to call a company in regards to an order, instead of calling the company himself { which would take about 30 seconds to do} he finds one of our lists and writes
"call such and such and ask when our order will be here"
If he was flat out doing other things just maybe we wouldn't mind such a task, but we all agree he is'nt doing much during his day, so why should we do our job AND his job, then be asked at the end of the day why we have completed our original tasks.
Don't get me wrong i love my job and take pride in what i do for the company, but i have no respect for a manager who sits on the fence line and dishes out orders, doesn't do what his paid to do, leaves HIS problems for us to sort out and treats his staff like slaves rather then workmates
