When people try to determine the da vinci code, Already there judgement of the man leonardo "da vinci" is mistaken. Firstly his real name is not Leonardo Da Vinci. "Vinci" is actualy the town leonardo resided in and "Da" has the meaning of "of", hence leonardo da vinci means
Leonardo of Vinci.
So all those people looking to break the OF VINCI code seem to have misplaced the meaning of their pursuit.
The other embaressing truth that hunters of the da vinci code omit is that Leonardo's work, although filled with pure artistic genius also contains falsitys and fakes to amuse the artist, to conflict and befuddle the viewer.
The shroud of turin has been proven to be a work of art, a peice of cloth said to have jesus's image imprinted through it's folds.It has also been proven to be a fake , produced by leonardo himself, so we know he didn't always convey the truth through his work. { carbon dating has proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that the shroud is hundreds of years older then the time of jesus}.
The main focus of the theorys of the da vainci code and the holy grail resides around one {if not the most famous} of his works:
THE LAST SUPPER
Although i have only read the first few chapters of a number of books regarding the holy grail and the theorys that jesus had a child, there are a few factors which can discredit the idea of a holy bloodline.The first is obviously the bible.The second is the fact that his blood wasn't holy to begin with so any child born to jesus and mary wasn't any more special then you and me. So although we can try and prove or disprove a birth, once it might be proven as accurate, the child would not be from the seed of god, because god never existed,and the child would be "just" the son of what we would now call the "pope".
The ideas conveyed by some da vinci code hunters regarding the "hidden"images and workings in the last supper lean towards the ridiculous.Firstly to study each person in the painting and paint a picture of what said persons reaction to the announcement of a betrayel would be is unesasary. We are not looking at a photo of the event, nor are we looking at an accurate version of the occasion. Leonardo painted what he thought may have been the situation and added some of his own touches for artistic purposes.Of course the person to the left of jesus is mary, It doesnt take a scientist to see that { Infact my five year old clearly pointed out it was a lady}.But to look at the composition of the gap between herself and jesus and come forth with the "hidden" symbol of "M" is a bit uneeded.The reason there is a gap is simple. If you were to draw each group of apostles on either side of him as symetrical you give the painting a unrealistic, scripted feel. Leonardo off set both sides of the apostles to add realism and a sense of unscripted happenings. Like a snapshot at a birthday party from a camera. This mistakenly through the years has been seen as the actual moment in time of jesus's announcement that one of his apostles will soon betray him.The actual occasion {if it indeed even occured in history} would of been very different.
The influence of the painting has come from descriptions from the bible and also from other artists perception of the event. The first problem with the source is that never in history has one word of an actual , original bible ever been discovered. It has been rewritten over time ,probally added to and moulded by the inscriber throughtout time, things omitted and added to suit the beliefs of cristianity, all of which gives us the "present day account" of the bible. If you gave 10 artists a blank sheet of canvas and asked them to paint a picture of the same episode of the bible, you would get 10 different versions of the event
It comes down to the influences and mindset of the artist, they can do what they please because there is'nt a right or wrong answer.If you then chose one of their works to base your theorys on you will only be theorising a theory. Similar to the steven hawkins debacle. He produced a "theory" on black holes then based his calculations on a asumption. {but the black hole thing is another nights blog}
But thats what they continue to do regarding the last supper, they look too far into things, tell them selves they are geniuses for working it out then continue down the wrong way street, luckily there are no cars on the road to halt them on their travels.
The next influence of da vinci hunters is the possibility of a secret society of people who conspire against us commoners to hide the truth. And low and behold leonardo is one of the conspiritors.It's appears to be common knowledge that leonardo wasn't a devout christian, and even to the point he dodged going to prison for his non belief of the gospel. So why would he be given the role of leader of such a group. It gives suggestion to the da vinci hunters that he joined the "Guarders of the holy grail" only then to give clues and hidden messages in his work about it's existance. For starters he would have NEVER been given the oppotunity to lead such a group.Who ever was in charge of recruiting a leader for the secret society
would not have chosen a non believer to be intrusted in keeping secret the worlds biggest sensation.And thats where the conspiriry theorys flouresh, because it clearly makes no sense to them why leonardo would be given such a role, they ignore this fact and declare,
" We assume he was the leader even though common sense says he wasn't, We assume he decided to join and then give the world clues of its existance even though theres no proof of these clues, now we are going to work with these asumptions to assume a bunch of more stuff"

The other source of peoples imaginations of the secret society is groups like the knights templar and priory of sian. In hindsight any book basing their information on the priory of sian should be destroyed because it was an ellaborate hoax. The persons involved have admitted their deception and any theorys regarding or involving the priory of sian can not be taken seriously. In fact the da vinci hunters were so keen to promote the idea of the priory of sian documents they chose to overlook common sense, because the paper work at the centre of the fraud was entitled
"SECRET DOSSIER" and contained a list of all the apparent leaders of a secret society hidden in a small castle being used as a hotel.If such an important document ever existed , the owners would have close tabs on it's location, because here is a society who have been "undiscovered"for two thousand years", who have gaurded and recorded the holy blood line and to this day live amongst us. It doesn't make sense for such a group to be so clumsy.
The second part is even more humourous.The knights templar is said to be the "IT" group to be appointed the secret society. What the irony is that if i know about the knights templar, and recorded documents from hundreds of years ago mention the knights templar then obviously it is'nt a "SECRET" society. It appears to me the knights templar existed, and where nothing more then the royal gaurds of the day. Men trained to keep safe the king and his family in times of war.Of course the conspirosy theorist claim that duty their day job, while at night they converged secretly to back rooms to maintain their involvement in keeping the holy grail secret. Even some say the royalty that they protected were direct decendants of jesus, leading to the royal family of today.
Much can be said about the secret society theory, but the original information is only based on an asumption and the apparent "secret messages"one can find hidden amongst historical paintings and documents. I'm all for proving a child of jesus was born, but facts have to be used instead of theorys squeezed from a painting nearly 1500 years after the event.
